A fantastic new community hub within a short walk of The Reserve is coming soon! The City of Greater Geelong conducted an engagement survey from August to September to gather feedback for the upcoming Charlemont Horseshoe Bend Community Hub.
This hub is going to be a vibrant centre for our community. It’ll host services for young children, including kindergarten and health programs, and provide various spaces for everyone to enjoy.
The best part is that it’s being designed with our community’s wishes in mind. The project team has listened to your ideas for the kinds of spaces you’d love, the activities you want to do, and what would make you feel right at home.
Nature lovers, get ready to rejoice! They’re making the most of our natural surroundings, with lots of shade from trees, a community garden, and spaces for social activities like BBQs, picnics, a toy library for the little ones and a children’s play area. You’ll also find spots for enjoying the outdoors and beautiful public art to admire. If you’re into fitness and wellness, they’ve got programs and facilities for you. They’re also ensuring our Indigenous community is represented, and they’re keeping it eco-friendly with sustainable materials and designs.
Just a 20-minute walk or quick a 3-minute drive away, accessing the hub from The Reserve will be a breeze. It’s all about making this place accessible and welcoming.
With the project set to be delivered by 2025/2026, there’s still plenty of time for you to share your thoughts and ideas, which you can provide in writing or by speaking directly to the project team.
